Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This policy explains how Smart Inspector (MyFoodShield) collects, uses and protects data, on our website myfoodshield.com and in the Smart Inspector app. The service is operated by [Registered company name] (“we”), based in Jordan.
This is an English translation of the Arabic policy. If the two versions differ, the Arabic version prevails.
In short:
- Your restaurant data and check records are stored on your phone first, and you control them.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
- We do not send your records to the Jordan Food and Drug Administration or any inspection authority. You decide what to show the inspector.
- Our website does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or for it to be deleted, at any time.
1. Data we collect
a. Through the website
- Early access form: your name, restaurant name, phone number and city, which you provide when you sign up.
- Technical data: when you visit the website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to run the website and protect it from attacks. We do not use this data to identify or track you.
b. Through the app
- Restaurant information: restaurant name, sections and areas, equipment, and the temperature limits you set.
- Operational records: temperature readings, daily checks, corrective actions, deliveries and expiry dates.
- Team data (when team sync launches): the names and phone numbers of staff members you add, and which staff member performed each check.
The app is built for running your restaurant, not for collecting data about your customers. Please do not enter sensitive personal data (such as staff health information) in note fields.
2. How we use data
- To contact you about early access and the app launch.
- To provide the app: the daily plan, alerts and records.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To improve the app and fix problems.
- To protect the website and app from misuse.
- To comply with the laws in force in Jordan.
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it to show advertising.
3. Legal basis for processing
We process data in line with Jordan’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 24 of 2023, based on: your consent (for example, when you sign up for early access), our need to provide the service you asked for, a legitimate interest such as protecting our systems, or a legal obligation we must meet.
4. Where your data is stored
On your phone: the app is built to work offline first, and your restaurant data and records are stored on your device. If you delete the app or lose the phone before backup is available, this data may be lost.
Cloud sync (coming feature): when it launches, an encrypted copy of your data will be sent to our servers for backup and for sharing with your team. We will update this policy and notify you before it is turned on, including where the servers are located.
Website data: early access form data is stored with trusted service providers we work with. Some of them may be located outside Jordan; in that case, we apply the safeguards the law requires.
5. Sharing data
We only share your data in these cases:
- Service providers: such as hosting and messaging, only as much as needed to provide the service, and under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requests: if the law or a court order from a competent Jordanian authority requires us to disclose it.
- Change of ownership: in a merger or sale, data transfers under this policy, and we will notify you in advance.
Smart Inspector is not connected to the Jordan Food and Drug Administration or any regulator, and we do not send your records to them. What you show the inspector is entirely your decision.
6. How long we keep data
- Early access data: kept until the app launches and for at most 12 months after, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
- App data on your phone: stays for as long as you keep it, and you can delete it from the app at any time.
- Sync data (when launched): deleted within 30 days of closing your account, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
7. Cookies
Our website does not currently use cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising. Our hosting provider may use cookies that are technically necessary to protect the website. If we add analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.
8. Your rights
Under Jordan’s Personal Data Protection Law, you have the right to:
- Know what data we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct or update inaccurate data.
- Ask for your data to be deleted.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing done before you withdrew it.
- Object to the processing of your data or ask for it to be restricted.
- Complain to the official body responsible for personal data protection in Jordan.
To use any of these rights, email us at [privacy@myfoodshield.com]. We will reply within 30 days, and we may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on the request.
9. Children
The service is meant for restaurant owners and their staff, not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Data security
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. For details, see our Data Security page.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will change the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. If the changes are significant, we will notify you in the app or directly before they take effect.
